(Hey, I actually got pictures transferred to my computer within a day of taking them! :) )  My sister made a cute sweatshirt and pant set for E1 when she was 2 years old.  E1 wore it constantly, for months, except when it was just too hot.  When E3 was about that age, we pulled it out of the box […]

Possible Problem with Tagless Clothing?

I ran across this blog entry at ZRECS and was amazed how widespread it appears these rashes and chemical burns could be.  This may be something to keep in mind or watch for, especially if your little ones have sensitive skin.

Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

Time to wake up my blog again! 🙂 I just had to write about this. Randy Pausch passed away today.  Dr. Pausch was a professor at Carnegie Mellon, and through the wonders of the internet, his last lecture, given in September, 2007, is able to be shared with the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo  Okay, I keep editing […]

June 14 Photo- Monster Duels

Lately I’ve been trying to get some one-on-one time with each kid, and so far we’ve all done many different things together- cooking, reading, and helping with whatever project they have going seems to be the frequent choices.  E2, however, has been asking to duel with Yu-Gi-Oh decks.  I really don’t get this game.  It might […]

(I’ve got to get the module for my external flash, it makes the pictures so much better.)  In an ideal world, my kids would have all natural toys, made from wood and organic cotton and wool.  However, that doesn’t seem to be realistic, and they definitely have their share of plastic and synthetic fibers.  One […]

It was a trip-to-OMSI day.  When we got there we discovered all of the upstairs exhibit halls were closed to get ready for the BodyWorlds 3 exhibit.  Fortunately, the kids’ absolute favorite exhibit is downstairs in the Turbine Hall- it’s the one where they fill a 2-liter bottle with mixtures of air and water to create enough pressure […]

E4 is finally old enough to ride on my back in the Ergo.  It’s so nice and I can get so much more done.  She looks a bit apathetic about it in the picture because she was getting sleepy, but she really does seem to love it.

March 9 Photo- How Kids Learn

I started reading and studying about homeschooling when E1 was only a year old, so I have had time to learn about many of the different theories and philosophies concerning methods of homeschooling. (I probably have over-studied it, but that’s another post.) Logically, mentally, I believe totally that traditional methods of teaching are not the best- that kids learn best and […]

February 10 Photo- I Have to Brush My Hair

I should mention first that we try not to make bedtime a big deal here. The quickest way in my opinion to create bedtime battles is to make it a control issue, so we use routine and guidance in order to help the kids get the rest they need. That said, their bodies are their own, and they are ultimately […]
