E3 has been asking over and over to learn how to knit. Since it requires more fine motor skills than a three year old possesses, I hadn’t figured out to honor that request without her and me getting incredibly frustrated. For some reason I had forgotten about the round loom set we had bought when […]

May 17 Photo- New Project Excitement

I bought some Cascade 220 yarn for a new felting project.  I really enjoy the early part of a knitting project, finding the right pattern, choosing the yarn, and winding it into balls to get ready to cast on. Although if I didn’t have a swift and ball winder, I might not enjoy it quite so much.

April 5 Photo- The Magic of Felting

I was so excited, the wool/soy blend yarn felted beautifully! It only took one hot/cold cycle through the washer to make them the perfect size. They are now finished, unless I decide to try to add some kind of drawstring or elastic to the ankle to help them stay on a little better. I just […]

April 4 Photo- Almost Mocs

I got in much more knitting time- it seems E4 was happiest riding on my back in the Ergo, probably because that position helped the congestion the best. The knitting is finished, next I sew up the back and sole, and then into the washer to felt down to the right size. I read […]

Hmmm, like this it doesn’t look like very much. :) Both of the littlest girls were not feeling well with their colds, so we got lots of snuggles in the rocking chair. I usually am on the computer quite a bit anyway on the 3rd and 4th of each month as that’s when I’m […]

March 25 Photo- Yay, They Fit!

I beat my April 1 deadline and got E4’s longies done! I’m technically still working on the drawstring, but I’m not going to count that because she can wear them without one. I took several pictures, but due to teething I couldn’t get a good one without her hands in her mouth.

March 21 Photo- Starting Mocs

E1 starting an afghan block has inspired me to cast on a new project as well. This yarn will (eventually, I hope) be a pair of felted mocs for E4 using a pattern from LittleTurtleKnits. The yarn I’m using is very different than what I’ve used before, it’s Paton’s SWS which is a 70% wool/30% soy blend […]

Since I don’t have anything new on the needles to show (or any time to knit), I’ll show E1’s new project. K bought me the Knitting Pattern-a-Day Calender.  One of the patterns each month is a themed block, then at the end of the year it has directions for putting the blocks together into an afghan. E1 has […]

March 15 Photo- Almost Done

It’s taken three months, but I’m almost there. I have 24 stitches to graft, and 2 ends to weave in. Maybe by April she’ll be able to wear them? 🙂 Good thing wool has cooling properties and we’ll have cool nights for a while yet.
