For the past 9 years we have gotten together with K’s parents the day before Easter so the kids can color eggs. (I don’t think we did when E1 was a few months old, but I don’t remember.) What was once a fun activity has now become a grand production, since there are so many more grandkids.

E3 graciously said okay to posing for me, although she wasn’t all that interested. Which meant, all her smiles were completely fake. I tried all sorts of things, but this was really the only one that turned out at all. This the one I said, “Whatever you do, don’t smile!” and pressed the shutter in the middle of the word smile.ÂÂ

I was so excited, the wool/soy blend yarn felted beautifully! It only took one hot/cold cycle through the washer to make them the perfect size. They are now finished, unless I decide to try to add some kind of drawstring or elastic to the ankle to help them stay on a little better.
I just love this pattern, and it’s a good thing it knits up so quickly- E3 is now asking for a pair.

I got in much more knitting time- it seems E4 was happiest riding on my back in the Ergo, probably because that position helped the congestion the best. The knitting is finished, next I sew up the back and sole, and then into the washer to felt down to the right size. I read that this Paton’s SWS yarn felts quite a bit so I knit the next size up.  Boy they look huge compared to her tiny little feet!

Hmmm, like this it doesn’t look like very much. :) Both of the littlest girls were not feeling well with their colds, so we got lots of snuggles in the rocking chair. I usually am on the computer quite a bit anyway on the 3rd and 4th of each month as that’s when I’m figuring checks for our contractors, but I definitely was here more than normal.

E4 is much happier- the tooth broke through on April Fools Day! I can only feel it- she won’t let me look at it, much less get a picture of it.

At bedtime, E3 usually gets ready for bed and then lies on the couch until I can get E4 asleep so we can do our bedtime ritual. This time she was so run down from fighting off a cold she was asleep almost as soon as she lay down. (I had to google “lay and lie” to make sure I had that right.)

E4 is now clapping her hands! She loves to play Pat-a-cake with E3, and as soon as she starts saying the rhyme now E4 starts clapping too. She also really likes “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and any other song I can think of that has clapping in it.
I kept trying to take a picture of it; she would clap and then the fingers went right back in her mouth and she would clap against the back of her hand. I never got the timing right to get the claps with her fingers out of her mouth.

E2 and E3 needed new summer-y shoes, and they really wanted to get Crocs like E1 has. They have a kiosk in the mall, so we spent the afternoon picking out colors, trying them on, and choosing buttons for fun. Since K and I already each have a pair and E4 doesn’t need shoes yet, we are now a Crocs family.

We had such a fun day. We went over to my brother- and sister-in-law’s for a playdate since their kids had spring break. They got to play outside some since it turned out to be a pretty nice day, and catching any of them for a picture was close to impossible. As E2 ran out the door for one more lap around, I called out to him to wait for a minute, and that’s literally what he did. I got just a couple of shots taken before he was off like a flash again.
