  I bought some Cascade 220 yarn for a new felting project.  I really enjoy the early part of a knitting project, finding the right pattern, choosing the yarn, and winding it into balls to get ready to cast on.  Although if I didn’t have a swift and ball winder, I might not enjoy it quite so much.

  I was so inspired by Wyowoman’s page she did about laundry I wanted to try something similar.  Hers is so much better, and I just love the journaling she did for that page.  It’s so true!

  E4 cut five teeth in six weeks.  It was a rough six weeks, but really if you think about how she must have felt most of that time, it wasn’t too bad.

  I’ve had a picture in my head for a while now- E4’s hand reaching for a flower- and so with K’s help holding her I tried to create what I’m seeing in my head.  It turned out okay, but it’s still not what I’m imagining.  I’m sure this will be one I’ll try again, maybe different colored flowers would help.

  I had a very good day- My kids took me out to lunch, and the whole day was very laid back and relaxing.  I’m not saying I’m sleep deprived or anything, but it took me quite a while to figure out the colors of the balloons were for my 3 daughters and 1 son.

  When I and my sister and brother were growing up, it was always a tradition that my mom made and decorated our birthday cakes.  That was a tradition I really wanted to continue with my own kids, but by the fourth birthday that tradition didn’t hold up for E2- he doesn’t like cake.  So now the tradition for his birthday is: we buy a plain ice cream cake and I try and decorate it with the requested theme.  This year was Pokemon.

  We had to go pick up the work van from the brake shop, so to make it fun we experimented with several physics principles- namely wind resistance, friction and inertia. 🙂

  When I was small, I remember my parents talking about how things were when they were little, especially the things they did or didn’t have or remembered their family getting later in their childhood.  Microwaves, televisions, top-loading automatic washing machines, so many things that at the time just seemed such a part of life it was virtually impossible to imagine not having.

 It’s rather hilarious being on the other side of the conversation now with my own kids.  K and I got our first cell phone before E1 was born, so she has no idea what it’s like to live without one and now consequently thinks it is a necessity.  She and E2 are both planning for the day when they are old enough to need one of their own, which has prompted many discussions on the definition of “need.”

  We met K’s parents for lunch at the mall since we all wanted to shop the one-day sale at JCPenney.
