  This picture was a little early to be for Mother’s Day, but since it was coming up, I had been thinking about my mom quite a bit.  I was folding clothes in the family room and the quilted wallhanging my mom had made for my birthday a few years ago caught my eye.  It always makes me feel loved when I see it- she has told my kids through the years when she gives them something with it heart, it says, “Grandma loves you.”

  Most of the houses in our neighborhood have so many beautiful flowers in their yards.  It’s hard not to just take flower pictures when we’re out and use those for all of my daily pictures.

  What a fun day!  We looked up the history of Cinco de Mayo to find out about La Batalla de Puebla and ate tacos for lunch.  That sparked a discussion between K and me about holidays and commercialization, since Mexico doesn’t really celebrate it as a special day.

 Then we loaded up the van to visit a comic book store for Free Comic Book Day.  Each of the kids were allowed to choose 3 comic books from the promotional ones the publishers distribute for this special event.  They seemed to really enjoy it, and they even had comic books for E3- she picked out Owly, Peanuts, and Mickey Mouse.

  I spent most of the day writing checks for our contractors, which stretched into the early morning hours because I had to wait on some information from one of them.  I can’t believe April is already done, time just flies by anymore.

  E1, E3 and I decided to make brownies for a change of pace.  E2 was invited too, but he was having too much fun making a volcano out of the clean towels on the couch.  The bright orange washcloths made the perfect lava.

  I thought the rainbows reflected on the back of DVD’s looked neat, and I wanted to find out how the camera would see the refracted light.

  Things are kind of crazy around here right now, so I don’t have much brain power to put towards my photography.  I’m not feeling creative, and since E4 is close and doesn’t move away, she makes the easiest subject.

  I took a similar photo before, but I wanted to try it with the new camera.
