A while ago the kids saw or heard something about the trick of hanging a spoon on the end of the nose. We all investigated the physics of how it works, and experimented with different spoons and methods to see if any of us could do it.  Of all of us, only E3 was able to get one to stay on her nose. Since then, she often dances around the house with one, as she sets the table or helps put dishes away.
Last night, we discovered that we were wrong that E3 was the only one who could: E4 pulled one of her spoons out of the dishwasher E2 was emptying, promptly stuck it on the end of her nose, looked up at me and just laughed out loud. Then I spent the next 45 minutes trying to get her to leave one there so I could get a picture.

The thought that I had so many unposted photos from my daily challenge has kept me away from my blog, so, I’m just going to ignore those photos. :) I was relatively happy with my challenge of taking a photo a day last year, I did miss a few days, but all in all I felt that I was successful with that. The posting, well, not so much.
The first part of this year I decided to take a break for a little while. Our family was going through some big changes, and I just didn’t have the mental energy to keep up with taking the pictures every day. I just recently started taking pictures again; not everyday, yet, but I’ll get there again. I found I really missed it!

There is nothing like four year old logic and imagination.

I guess E4 isn’t the only one growing up! An avid knife collector, K has planned all of the kids’ first pocket knives. E2 has decided he’s ready to have one, and K agreed, with a few restrictions: it stays on our desk when not being used, and right now it is only used with supervision. E2 is the most excited about the scissors, with the tweezers a close second.

I have given up trying to catch up the photos to the current date. The farther behind I got the more I procrastinated posting anything. So, I’m going to finish out the year starting now!
E4 has just been growing like a weed- she’s toddling all over the house, adding new words to her vocabulary daily, and trying to do everything her older sisters and brother do. I just love this age!

E4 enjoyed putting my cousin’s hat on her head and then taking it off. I thought it was apropos that it was a newsboy cap, as our family is all about newspapers.

My mom has always wanted a tetherball set, so when she was in town and saw one in the store she got it for the kids to play. It’s a giant tetherball, and the kids had so much fun! Although I’m going to have to do a little research about the game- according to the rules that came in the package, players are supposed to use rackets and they forfeit the game if they touch the ball with their hands. That’s not how I played the game in grade school!

E3 and E4 almost always play together well. I think E3 likes being a guide of sorts, helping E4 with whatever. In fact, it seems the only times they aren’t getting along is when E3 is trying to help and E4 really doesn’t want it.

The kids had a blast making posters and pictures with my mom’s foam stickers. The stickers were a lot of fun, but the cleanup was a little harder than they expected- the paper backing was everywhere, and when the packages said “hundreds” of stickers, they weren’t exaggerating.
